"Be yourself, unless you suck" -Joss Whedon

You’re only the moon, they said
But a reflection
Of ineffable glory
Of the sun

For a time, I hid under the pale
Crags
Craters
Of my face,
I was pressed down on my back
The black

It was a void
Nothingness and terrifying
But it was tempting
In such a dark place,
Maybe I could seem to glow with my own light

But the emptiness smothered me with stale air
Luke warm
Lonely

I cried for the sun

Slowly, I raise my head
Not reflection, but creation
Of ineffable complexity
Of the sun

Purposeful, I strode back towards them
Blue
Green
A whining clatter,
I pressed forward, tilting my face upwards
To spinning, scintillating cosmos

It was known
Deep in my bones and hammering in my blood
But it was incomprehensible
In such a place
Light was relative

But will, of my own, filled me with crisp air
Cold
Bright

I smiled for the sun
