Choir Kids
We fill up a room with sound
Coming from nothing but our lungs
We work hard and strive for success
We always watch
To stay alert and on time
And we listen
To stay in tune
People call us a cult
We call ourselves a family
Unity is what we value the most
Bringing home the gold is not easy
But we work together
Eight hours rehearsals filled with choreography
From simple jazz squares
To double attitude lifts
We drip in sweat
Like if we took showers
Clenching for air
Singing and dancing at the same time
Can seem simple
But it is not
Endless hours working together
Can be frustrating but
Only bonds our family together
People think we look weird
They often call us “gay”
But they never see us perform
20 minutes straight of singing and dancing
Competiting against 20 groups
Costume changes, stage lights and a live band
Crowds of families, parents and other groups watching us
Watching us carefully
Looking for faults
We know we can deliver
Only giving the best we can be
At competitions we are the group to beat
But at home we are just choir kids
