The Sky Was Falling

The sky was falling
Crashing around me in shards
The pieces shone in the sunlight
Winking at me
Mocking me
Then the sun grew dark
Covered in inky clouds that
Rippled across the empty sky-space
Laughing at me
Raining on me
It was so cold and bleak
I tried to put the sky back together
But the pieces were too broken
Too complex
Too many
My faith had crumbled
I tried to gather those pieces
Before they melted away
Too fast
So fast
Suddenly another pair of hands
Came up beside me and picked up my faith
And gave it back to me
So kind
So warm
Those hands lifted me to my feet
And helped me put the sky back together
And pulled the clouds back from the sun
And held me
And healed me
I never saw the face behind those hands
But I think He didn't show me
So I would have something left to hope for
Because with Him
I have
Everything.
