True Colors

Please paint me a picture
With these true colors of yours.
I cannot care
Just how vibrant or dull
So long as the paints
Flow straight from your heart.

Yield me your senses,
And give me your thoughts.
What you reveal to me matters.
Just make sure that
It won't be marked false,
For I will hold it in the light until I find it.

A little stained
And a little worn
Are to be expected.
I can fix the places
Where you've been torn
If you let me be your artist.

My oils can patch your holes.
My own shades and tones will
Make you complete,
But you must show me true colors
So that I know how
To mix and make something of the paint.

A glorious sun
Becomes a solemn moon
When painted with black color.
So wear the color
Which is truly you,
And never let me mix it darker.

I don't care what's in the background
Of your colorful scenery
As long as critics won't define your taste.
I don't care about the mistakes you find
In all the colors of me
So long as you see the truth in my portrait face.
