Still Not Quite An Introvert

I like to be alone
Not friendless
Or shut up inside myself
But when I go into a room
I like to close the door behind me
And I think that this is fine

I used to be desperate
Like it was essential
For me to find a romance
Which is pretty normal,
I guess
So for four long summer months
I was not alone

It may come as a shocker
(I am joking, it should not)
But this really wasn't all that great
Mostly because
I didn't know what I was doing
So it just seemed weird
Which, looking back, it was

But who hasn't ever done that
And who doesn't know
What it is like
To run into something blindly
Only to fall out of it
Seeing all too well

I say this to prove a point--
-I am not naive-
Which is why I wonder
If there is really something in the air
When days get darker
Air gets colder
And trees enter our houses

Because it is only now
That I feel something missing
But this also must be normal
Like messing up on your first kiss
Or clumsy dinner conversations
Although, I do not worry about these
