What I Gave To See You Smile

Don’t you know what I gave up
Just to make you happy?
I’m not treated the same, unwanted,
You know the things they call me.
But I thought the names were worth it,
As long as I saw that smile.
The only thing I didn’t know
Was that words lasted such a long while.
I thought I could handle them all,
Thought I could fight through.
But 300 words against my own,
If only then I knew.
