The Seagull’s Voice
The seagull cries out
And flaps his white wings
While he tries to respond
To the birds who can sing
He screeches and caws
And tries to make song
The other birds laugh
And egg him along
He lets out a noise
That startles the peace
And all of the songbirds’
Singing does cease
He silenced his voice
For a different day
He never will sing
But he tries anyway
