"you either laugh or cry at this crazy world, and I long ago chose what I would do"

This look in my eyes,
Whatever you think you see
Is not experience,
But maturity.

For I have accompanied
Those I hold dear
Down to the gates of Hell
Despite my own fear.

And with my loves
I have lifted my hand
And knocked on those large gates
Upon which darkness fanned.

You can make this light
Whatever you want
But anything you can say
Is only a taunt.

When Cerberus himself
Has nipped at your heels
You really know
How terror feels.

I have made
The trek below
And emerged still living
Despite the Styx’s flow.

Please, I beg you,
Talk some more
But I’ve been burning
Since I was four.

Games of youth
Are best left behind
For in the game of life
The Devil is not kind.

Death has chased me
Fear has consumed me
Love has blinded me
Yes, my eyes are tired.
