Favorite Quote:
“Thomas Edison's last words were 'It's very beautiful over there'. I don't know where there is, but I believe it's somewhere, and I hope it's beautiful.”

Her feet just barely graze the pedals of the bike you bought for her
Picked out carefully by you with love and expectations for her to meet
That growth spurt coming a bit too late
Reaching for the pedals
Reaching for the praise that was sure to follow
Maybe someday the scars will fade

Her still childish body dissolved in the blue dress you bought for her
Picked out carefully by you with love and expectations for her meet
Curves failing to fill the dress
Drowning in the fabric
Drowning in the expectations
Maybe someday the dress will fit

One day she wore a mask
The mask you picked out carefully for her
It was painted by your hopes and dreams
And outlined with unrealistic expectations
And finally her face had grown to fit it

This piece is based off of a quote from George Orwell's "Shooting an Elephant". The quote I took and used to inspire my own piece was "He wore a mask and his face grew to fit it". This is my own interpretation of the quote in relevance to me. Enjoy!
