"Survival. That's what TV should teach innocent children. How to live in a world that really doesn't give a damn about anyone but their own--and sometimes, not even their own." ~Flowers in the Attic

A beautiful butterfly,
with wonderfully ripped wings
flys in circles
unsure of what to do,
how to stop.

Her eyes glisten grief,
and she rarely smiles.
She walks around
like a zombie,
totally dead on the inside.
Pushing love away,
pulling hate in.

From time to time
I watch her
memorizing her face,
the look of disappointment
always on it.
I want to kiss it all away
but I can’t.

Sometimes I want to reach out
and speak to her
but I never do.
I would tell her everything’s alright
she has a shoulder to cry on
ears that will listen
You don’t need tears anymore.
But such a gorgeous girl
doesn’t want me.

I remember rosy cheeks,
that made my day
and nails
that weren’t bitten off.
I remember ridiculous jokes
that you always knew
and stories
you were proud to mention.
Where is that girl now?

Oh wise women
stop thinking of yesterday
and try today.

I will help you,
even if you don’t want me too
because I love you,
like obese children love McDonalds
you’re something I can’t picture
ever leaving my life
even though you don’t know
you’ re such a huge part in it.
