shattered lightbulbs

they found her body
floating limply at the bottom
of his disconnected heart.
she drowned in his facades,
fell gladly between his sheets,
maybe even felt loved for a while.
but she wasn’t,
nor were the ones before her.
so why is that i sit here
twiddling at wires,
trying to fix his circuitry,
when i could end up
just
like her?
