In her armor

She was a girl in all shining armor,
If they knew that she was it’d be off with her head.
But she could not hide while the men went to fight.
‘How could I?’ she thought as she lay in bed.
‘My kingdoms in trouble and I know I must help!’

The next day she went out on the battlefield,
a sword in one arm and a shield in another.
She fought killing many thus’ the battle was one.
The men all came running and the king shook her hand.
They named this girl the greatest of man.

But her head turned to quick and her helmet fell off,
the gasp could be heard by the death.
For this wasn’t a man, or just any old girl,
for this- was the princess.
