Blanket Fort

let’s go
into the living room
On tip toes

I’ll take your hand
leave your tears by the door
next to the worries and almosts

and we can gather things
warm
fuzzy
chocolate things

with chairs
and memories
and we can build them

layer them
keep out the light
cocoon ourselves in darkness
and hold hands

the others can come too
if they bring ritz crackers
and spray cheese
and fruit punch

we will share-
paying anything
for one more embrace

our living room though
can only hold
the world
for so
long
