SSG Tyler J. Smith
It’s January.
My hero leaves today.
Only nine short months,
still all too long.
The calls and messages,
spare in frequency,
brings smiles.
Yet pierce’s your heart,
hoping is not the last.
I pray for his safety.
I pray for his return.
~
It’s April now.
I’m sitting in class.
I get the message.
My hero
is never coming home.
In that moment
I am motionless.
I feel nothing.
The thoughts in my head,
like his life,
gone completely.
April 3 2012,
The day I lost
My Hero.
