Never start frowning because you never know who's falling in love with your smile.

Gray clouds above me
Slowly shifting from sight
Ever so softly
Such elegance…

Screams penetrate my ears
The shouts from the barn getting louder
And louder
Breaking any peace I may have had.

No escape
Never any escape.
Ma and Pa will battle until the end of time
While I get lost in the cross fire.

From where I lay,
I turn slightly
Watching and waiting.
The screams go down
The battle has ended
For now.

Another moment of peace
Drifting away with the clouds.

This poem was inspired by Andrew Wyeth's 1948 painting, Christina's World. Basically the piece goes into what her possible thoughts are in the painting.
