The Little Fence

Through the woods, past a weeping willow,
along a stream over a bridge,
beyond the meadow and down a hill,
stands a little fence.

This is where we would meet,
unsure at first but falling right into it.
The place where we would talk about our deepest secrets ever since we were young.

This where we would play as little kids,
having no worries and living carefree.
The place where we would do our homework,
neither one of us caring about the right answer.

This is where I first saw you cry,
something that broke my heart to see.
The place where you held me when I went through losing family
members, breakups, and fighting with friends.

This is where I fell for you,
and you fell straight back.
The place where you kissed me unexpectedly,
but I didn’t mind.

This is where we had our first date,
one of many.
The place where we spent our last summer,
awaiting the world ahead.

This is where you got down on one knee,
and pulled out shining crystals from your pocket.
The place where our family’s and friends would sit,
and watch us say “I do”.

This is where we would bring our kids,
to play like we did when we were young.
The place where you still to this day,
tell me how much I mean to you.

Through the woods past a weeping willow,
along a stream over a bridge,
beyond a meadow and down a hill,
stands a little fence,
and everytime I look at that fence I think of you.
