Girl, I'm gonna tell ya now:
Life for me ain't been no new
Peterbuilt.
My truck has had scratches,
And dents,
And doors fall off,
And places where there was no roof.
I'se had breaks that didn't work.
And trucks that won't crank.
And girl, I'se even had to drive trucks without a steering wheel down I-75.
But all this time, I'se still been a drivin'.
And reachin' pit-stops.
And turnin' corners.
And sometimes drivin' on thin ice, literally.
When there wasn't nothin' to catch me under that ice.
Except the cab, from "Old Yeller."
So girl, don't you turn around,
Don't you pull over on the interstate.
'Cause you find its kinder hard.
Don't you wreck now.
For I'se still goin', girl.
I'se still drivin'.
And life for me ain't been no new peterbuilt.

The author's comments:
I wrote this piece because my dad is a truck driver, and I feel like I write better if I put myself in that persons shoes. So i thought of things my dad would tell me and put them in poem form. Obviously, he doesn't have perfect grammar, but that is what makes this poem mine, I don't use correct grammar, always. I am country, hardly ever do you here me talk without my accent and that is what makes this poem me.
