Musings On The Matter Of Time

How many minutes,
How many days
Does it typically take
To decide between action
and fate?
I feel I've waited long enough,
But the clock runs independent,
As I feel its ticking has worn me rough,
It decides to add a few more seconds.
The numbers change,
But its incessant tick-tocking feels the same.
Either they're dragging too slow
Or speeding too fast,
One minute I can't wait for the future,
The next all I want is to be back in the past.
One minute I'm struggling to hold onto a memory,
The next all I want is out of the one I'm in,
One minute I'm looking back at where I've been,
The next all I can think of is where I want to be.
Isn't it funny that I can't see
What's right in front of me?
The present is right now,
But I'm stilling waiting
and as I look for nothing,
My presence is soon fading.
I know I have to snap out if it
and I hope I do before my time is up
and I'm called out of it.
