Hear Me

Seeing him, complicates my communication
I get this heaviness in my throat
Like putting holes in a boat
My words won’t float straight from me to you
They stick to my lips like glue
And again like this holey boat
My thoughts are quickly leaking into a pool of overdone thinking
And my words come out wrong as I slowly begin sinking
Now, surely he’s believing
My incomplete speaking won’t help me find what I’m seeking
To achieve my dreams of being one of the important beings in his life
Is the gift I want to receive
When he smiled he relieved the pain that’d been conceived in my heart,
So then suddenly this fight
For him to see the light of my thoughts came to a halt
I found myself staring helplessly into his eyes
But “I love you” was his reply
I began to cry because that’s all I wanted to say
With another smile his reply was relay.
“I love you.”
As my tears fell I couldn’t believe my dreams were coming true,
So without hesitation I said,
“I love you too.”
