Moving Ahead

Something new in our lives
A sentence begins with unfamiliar words
Perhaps the start of a paragraph
Or maybe this new something stretches for a page
Even a whole chapter
But though we write our own tale
There is no way to read ahead
A theme may be toyed with, dismissed in an instant
A character introduced and then forgotten
Something new and scary and exciting is beginning
But may end after only a few letters
Or could continue through sequels
Our stories unravel from the pens we hold
And we cannot read ahead
