It's frustrating when they break their promises
The ones who also promised to keep their promises
You really should have expected it
Any promise like that begs to be torn apart
But every time it happens it's like you'd forgotten
It still clamps your lips shut and turns your head away
Stings at the corners of your eyes and in the bottom of your heart
It locks away memories of your own shattered vows
And sickens your chest with the betrayal
Hurting not so much from the broken promise
But from the reminder that you can't trust anything
