Stay beautiful, keep it ugly.

I wear a size 7
You want me to be a 3
Forget what you say
I am real, this is me
I wear a size large
You want me to be small
You think 5'1" is too short
Well I think 6'3" is too tall
You tell me that I'm ugly,
That I'm fat, that I'm mean
You want me to be pretty,
To be skinny, to be lean
You beat and you pressure
You break us down to the floor
But we've all got something special
And you're not worth dying for

The author's comments:
This poem came to me late one night as I was loathing myself in the mirror. I had told my boyfriend that it was a bad day and he told me that I was the most beautiful girl he'd ever seen. Now, I know for a fact that this was not true. But then I thought that thought over again. It could be true. Everyone has something unique, something that makes them beautiful. Society is the majority. Society is us. We are society. So unless we change our views on what beauty truly is, people will keep dying trying to fit an unrealistic image.

Never give up on something you can't go a day without thinking about.

Oh my gosh. This poem is amazing. You perfectly captured all of the pressure that girls are under in todays society. The poem has a very confident voice "This is who I am, get used to it". Great job! :)
