My Mom's Gibson
On a stand
in the corner of my room
used but brand new
a piece of me is inside that mahogany and spruce
inside that Gibson waiting for anything
now it has a crack
now something inside
of me is missing
just waiting to be fixed
my J-40 reflects in the sun
and I remember back to the first day my mom and I got it
and she waited until I got home to open it
and then we played for hours.
