Dylan's Poem

Again, one more night has come and gone.
It’s passed us by, inching slowly on.
But one day those inches, they’ll add up.
Then will we stand, utterly struck.

Laying there, eyelashes thick,
chest rising and falling, I might almost be sick.
Sick of the weight, from this tightness in my chest,
The need that holds me hostage, rips away at my best.

This emotion that holds us
it’s a b**** that’s for sure,
but I’d take it over anything else,
for you I’ll bear it all.

Years apart, miles between,
but love goes on, keeps us keen.
My mind is tangled, uncertainty reigns,
but your honesty is an anchor I know wont ever cause pain

We’ll beat the odds,
Is that a promise?
It’s hard to think,
god, you’re intoxicating.

The words slip from your lips
like the silent smoke rings you blow in the dark,
hazy, silver, going straight to my heart.
You don’t know what you do,
the emotions evoked.

Times are rough, but us?
We’re tough.
We’re making it, babe, this is real stuff.

So until that day,
until the warmth that night will bring,
Just stay there with that guitar, be sure to wear red,
play me my song, sing under your breath.

You know they say, good things take time,
Well baby I’ll wait for you,
for you I’d wait a lifetime.
