"Every great dream begins with a dreamer. Always remember, you have within you the strength, the patience, and the passion to reach for the stars to change the world." -Harriet Tubman

What I would do
Just to get one more day with you
What I would say
If I just had one more word
Darling I didn't know
You would have to go
I had no idea you felt this way
That it would be too much to stay
And easier to go away

Why didn't you tell me what was going on
Every single day
You had a smile on your face
Every single day
I didn't know at night
That smile would fade away

You always seemed the cheeriest
The friendliest
The happiest
Why didn't you tell me you weren't
Darling you could've told me anything
Anything at all that was on your mind
But it's too late now
I couldn't read the signs
I couldn't tell you wanted out

What I would give
To have one more day
One last moment
Just one more chance to say
the things I never said when you were around
I'd tear down the walls of secrets hidden
And sing the songs of someone never forgotten

This is a poem about the pain of losing someone and wanting just one more moment with them.
