"two onions a day keeps the boys away"
my mother's voice chimes down the hall
and my eyes roll as i think of the girl
i used to be.
but i jumped that cliff many years ago
and as i sailed into the clouds
of my so-called "best years"
i left behind ice-cream licking
and soared right into sharp needles
and i see now, mother couldn't have been more right
