Here I am drowning
Sinking deeper into despair
Hopelessly kicking
Gasping for air
Peril invades me
The surface fast to disappear
Light is diminished
All is left is fear
Beneath me is nothing
Around me unknown
Sent here to die
chained to a bag full of stones

The author's comments:
The inspiration for this peace came from the emotion of fear. I thought about writing about fear in general, but then had the idea to write about one of my biggest fears: drowning. As I was writing, it occured to me that the fear and feeling of drowning can apply to so much more than just water. So many times have I felt overwhelmed or in over my head in every day life.
