Acrophobia

There may be a logical perspective that I’m not seeing
Nonsense dust blown air looks perfect through my eyes,
Low and red

I thought I was floating

You knew better than I did
Trying to persuade me of the consequences--you pass

Still I spell out I don’t care in rings of smoke
Swirling with them to paradise and beyond
Taking your obscurity in hand to fight
The gravity you no longer see beneath me

You claim you’re afraid of heights
But I love being another puff in the clouds
And as always, you don’t understand that

Or maybe I’m just too high,
Remembering that you haven’t experienced my altitude

Mistaking my distance in elevation for a haze of rain
Failing to drip drops on your skin,
Untouched by your dirty hands
In question with the polluted breaths you take

I remain dry
Calm in the overhead glance of your confusion, your overcast
Claiming it as it continues to linger above you

And you’ve never been high enough
