"You have to maintain a fine balance between hope and despair. Yes, in the end, it’s all a question of balance."
-Rohinton Mistry, A Fine Balance.

We are cogs in a clock;
How finely tuned.
Is this an indication
Of our coordination?
Or does it portend to our priority,
To give in to authority?
We are merely members of the system,
We submit to a higher wisdom.
We are gears in a machine
Kept that way so we will never be libertine.
Cogs in a clock;
How finely tuned.
Pruned and festooned,
We spin in conjunction,
Under judicial injunction.

Are we merely doing what is expected of us by society? Are we victims of the daily grind of a community? What does this say about us? Are we obedient or oppressed?
