I was just a single
face in a crowd, watching
as she died.
No one ran forward
to hold her hand
No one stepped up
to save her life
No one shed a tear
and no one cried

I didn't know who
she was or
why her life slipped
away
but I wondered
who did she love?
and who loved her?
but I still didn't
run forward or
hold her hand
no one did
no one stepped up
to save a stranger's life
