Beneath the tall, majestic, rectangle statues with glass square patterns,

Beneath the black mud that hardens like steel and possesses that acrid, cloying smell,

Beneath the pale, gray rock it always seems to try to break,

It is silent like a mouse,

It is modest,

It is more beautiful than any work of art

It is not like a Picasso,

It is not like a Monet,

It is no work of Frederic Bartholdi,

It is not even synthetic,

There lies an organism we humans seem to take for granted,

There lies a secret that most of us have forgotten,

There lies a sage, green stalk,

But not just any stalk,

A plant,

A crisp green,

A curly leaf,

A beauty,

But not just any beauty,

Undisturbed by most,

A piece that I composed for my writing class. I felt that it would be okay to post on here. I was really nervous about writing this piece only because during the period in which I wrote it I didn't really know what direction it would go in.
