Ssshhhh, the wind warns
I should stay silent
If I make a sound the road might disappear
Because I finally, finally, am not afraid
I finally, finally, know where I’m going
Nowhere
Just where I’ve always wanted to go
I can see
I can feel
The goggles of inexorableness have been lifted
I am a traveler now
Like I always have been
Lovely, lovely
Without shackles, the path is so lovely
Hungry, hungry
Without a muzzle, I am hungry now
I will, I swear I will
I promise I will take veracity into my hands
Ssshhhh, the wind warns
I should stay silent
If I make a sound the road might disappear
Because I finally, finally, am not afraid
I finally, finally, know where I’m going
Nowhere
Just where I’ve always wanted to go
I am free because I am searching
They say I am not because I am running
But, no
They cannot hear me say no
Clack, clack
Over the sound of their shackles banging together
The aromas, the flavors, it’s so different from the dungeon
So different from the orthodoxy
The sanitized insanity
So why is it merely me that can see?
Ssshhhh, the wind warns
I should stay silent
If I make a sound the road might disappear
Because I finally, finally, am not afraid
I finally, finally, know where I’m going
Nowhere
Just where I’ve always wanted to go
A winding dirt road, leading to nonentity
A path through the forest, ending in mystery
I chose the latter, a nomad’s first choice
I’d rather be tortured with terrors unbeknownst to me
Than be tortured by tedium steadily
I should stay silent
If I make a sound the road might disappear
Because I finally, finally, am not afraid
I finally, finally, know where I’m going
Nowhere
Just where I’ve always wanted to go
I can see
I can feel
The goggles of inexorableness have been lifted
