why so serious, Still Man?
what stopped you here
and made you contemplate
so keenly?
why do you concentrate, Still Man,
why not move on?

why so serious, Still Man?
why ponder life
with such a face?
why not peel your hand
from its spot on the wall
and stomp those boots
of yours, Still Man?
why dream, Still Man,
when you can live?

why look down, Still Man,
when there is reason
to look up?
lift your eyes, Still Man,
and see the world.

why not breath, Still Man,
why not drink a gulp of air?
why not feel, Still Man,
for callousness is so cold.

why fear, Still Man,
when you can face the world
with bravery?
why not try,
Still Man,
why not take a risk?

why not unfurrow your brow,
Still Man,
and smile?

why remain,
Still Man,
when you have the ability
to go?

why pose for others,
Still Man,
when you can do something
for yourself?

why not age,
Still Man,
for stagnancy
is your folly.

why stay silent,
Still Man,
when your lips
can mouth a melody?

why so serious,
Still Man,
when you can tilt back your head
and laugh.

why shrink in meekness
and cowardice,
Still Man,
when you can stand tall
and show the world your posture?

why so serious,
Still Man,
and,
Still Man,
why so Still?
