What You Wanted
Stop staring at me with those blank, glossy eyes;
I've known you forever;
Everything painted on your face gives you away.
Quit with the amnesia-like questions;
They ask everything I cannot answer;
I don't have a clue as to what made you into the person you are today.
Was it the reaching for love?
It always seemed so far away;
Never in your reach.
You were never good enough;
You were a worthless piece of trash;
Is that what he told you?
As he jerked down your hair;
As he whipped welts onto your body;
Is that what you really wanted?
Was that love?
Stop staring at me with those blank, glossy eyes;
I've known you forever;
As you stare right back at me from the mirror.
