In a dark city, in a dark country,
There was a night when the skies opened,
And the rib-cage beast, the rib-cage plane
Let fly a terrible rage into the dark.
The young ones slept, ever so peaceful,
The mothers and the fathers and the pests of the house.
They lay still in their places, softly sleeping, unaware,
And the sirens howled and screamed, far too late.
And even the streets of heaven perished that night,
That night, when the rain was stained and the world whistled
And the alarms fell on cold dead ears.
That was the night we set the world on fire.
