The label taunted at me
I am not
The lies you push through me
I am not
An image of perfection
I am not
A perfect confection
Pasted and pretty for all to see
Try as I may,
I am simply me.
I do not
Have every hair in place
I do not
Constantly worry about my face
I do not
Keep it all together
I do not
Pretend I’m never under the weather
Or that absolutely nothing
Can ruffle my feathers
Try as I may,
I am simply me.
