It felt different as she reached the door
You couldn't help but feel hopeless and sore
Her heart raced as she paced side to side
While you let your spirits free to run and glide
In the empty house with two children of your own
You'll now never get the chance to see how much they've grown
Some of the days felt so lonely and cold
Without seeing your smile that was oh so bold
But as she had her time to grieve
She'll remember the memories spent together that will never leave
They're stored carefully within her heart
She knows the love you two shared will never part.

I wrote this poem a few months after my dad had committed suicide. I wrote it based on my mom's point of view the night she came home and found out my dad was no longer here.
