The Hallway

Down the dark hallow hallway,
an oil lamp, lit by the haggard maiden,
saturates the stale air with a warm glow.
The stories of failed conquests
whisper secrets between the twists of the malnourished walls.
Sunken windows bow down to the black sky,
like a peasant worships a king.
Dense, invisible air weighs down upon the feeling of nothingness,
making all those who enter numb.
