Unrequited Love
I was five when I first met him
He was on his swing set
I went over to him even though the sky was dim
Asked him if he wanted a Rug Rat cookie
I fell in love at first sight
His short blond hair and sky blue eyes
Make it hard to move on
I love everything about him, even his Star Wars obsession
I love that I can always be myself around him
He is kind, funny and conceited
When he’s around I can’t help but smile
Even when he calls me “freshman”
I yell at him, but deep down I don’t mind
He was always there for me
He helps me up when my knee dislocates or when I’m clumsy and fall
He never makes me feel like I don’t belong
He was my first friend, my first love
Even though I know he will never think of me
The way I think of him
I will always love him
After all, that’s unrequited love
