The Apple
The apple hangs from the tree,
waiting to be eaten.
Tempting passers by.
It hangs down,
beckoning, calling out,
“Come, taste my power.”
The apple has climbed
out of reach
on purpose.
So that passers by will not reach up
and accidentally puck the temptress
from her home.
So that to get it
you have to plan, to know
what you are doing.
There is no mistake
in this design
made to tempt.
And to test.
The apple hangs from the tree,
the apple is waiting to be eaten.
