I’m sorry didn't take my medication.
I’m sorry you decided to make me this prisoner in my body.
I’m sorry you took away those nine years.
I’m sorry you had to strip me of my childhood.
I’m sorry you made me take each black and red pill each day.
I’m sorry my teachers sent me with behavior notes home.
I’m sorry people would stare whenever we’d go out in public.
I’m sorry I told you I was embarrassed.
I’m sorry I told you I was tired all the time.
I’m sorry the doctors corrected your parenting.
I’m sorry I don’t want a “normal life.
I’m sorry ADHD chose me.
I’m sorry I wasn’t ready to grow up.
I’m sorry I wanted my life back.

The author's comments:
When i was eight i was diagnosed with ADHD. For the past nine years i felt like a zombie, living day by day not fully aware of my feelings or anything. One day i decided to skip taking my medication. It felt great, the feeling of having my heart being placed back into my chest. I was a kid all over again
