The City

A World within Itself
I watch
As
Blazing yellow cabs
Run around
Fighting for
Passengers
I wait
For mine
To come and
Take me

I see them
Pedestrians
They click and clack by
Clasping circles of heat
Purses and briefcases
Glued
At their sides

The women
Are the little,
Yapping dogs
At their feet
They will not
Stop
Their sound

I watch as
The doorman
Stands guard
Of my building
Scoping
For any danger
On the street
In front of him

Bicycles
Bolt by
I want to feel
The wind in my hair
Like they do
Lean on
Trucks and cars
Like they do
I want to
Wait
For the prefect time
To bolt again
Like they do

Colossal buildings
Above an underground world
Of diligent people
And tireless wheels

This city,
Of wishes
Of hopes for the future
Of ideas

The home of
Lights
Legends
Clammer
Thoughts

This city
Of my dreams
