Remember

Yes
I do.
I do remember
when we danced
I remember
every stuck up girl
whispered about me.
How weird I was
how stupid
how pathetic.
But in that moment,
you made me
feel beautiful
nothing could stop me.

Your hands
were cold
like ice cubes,
or the wind
blowing outside.
I had to remind
myself to breath.
Breath in
the moment.

I know
she looks innocent
you're going to believe
her
not me.
Forget history, I guess.
You're living in the moment
who cares about that
sill ex of yours
who still cries whenever
that certain song
you picked together to
be yours
comes on?
Who cares that every time
you text her
she bows her head and
says a little prayer
that you're saying
you want her back
that you screwed up
that you're sorry.

But I watch in school
how you act as though
I don't exist
I watch as
you and her go on
and plan dates loudly
just for me to hear.
For me hear
that I don't matter
for me to hear
you're now with one
of the girls who
laughed at us.
I guess I'm no more useful
than a journal
with no more
pages.

A lousy one at that
I know
every secret
I know all
of your dreams.
And how am I
thanked?
By being ignored.
I know when
you read this
you'll apologize
try to smooth it over.
But you can't.

Until
you tell me
that you want me back
that you screwed up
that you're sorry
I'm not going to pay attention
to you
anymore.

So whenever you're ready
to hear me speak
call me up
or I'll call you
you're my speed dial
#3
just tell me
when you're ready
to remember.
