Debris left and right-
families gripped to each other so tight.
As if the world was coming to an end.
Thunderous cumulonimbus stretch as far as the eye can see-
piercing the ear as the funnel slowly evolves.
The sky is charcoal with a tint of green, you can practically see the freight train coming.
Pressed against the cold hard floor-
in the depths of demise.
Praying for another day.
In an instant tranquility appears and stifles the-
rhythmic howling.
Transforming into melodious-
barking dogs, crying babies, and tears.
Life .
The will to survive.
The nightmare cast upon us all.
Reality sets back in.
Debris left and right-
families gripped to each other so tight.
As if the world was coming to an end.

The author's comments:
This Spring has been one of the worst years for severe weather, and tornadoes. Many people have lost their homes, belongings, family members, and even their own lives. This poem is written for those who perished and suffered through those deadly storms.
