Lately, there’s been a strange force in her tune.
Promises were made when she was singing.
Now she hums hateful melodies of no meaning.









We wear our blank expressions like tuxedoed children
I feel us drowning in a complex chord.
Bring back the chorus and let her voice roll in,
In my heart she left an empty staff.
Her song hangs around my head,
Like black Cadillac’s outside a funeral.
Her cruel and beautiful song was just
A lullaby to help me close my eyes.
