An angel came down to earth
she flew over to a girl and asked
"What is your heart's desire?"
"Diamonds, wealth, fame"
the angel was displeased and flew away
to a athletic young man and asked
"What is your heart's desire?"
"a girl, a winning touchdown"

to a mother
"What is your heart's desire?"
"Peace, free-time, less kids"
the angel was unpleased and flew away
there sat a lonely boy
on a sidewalk all alone
the angel flew to him
"What is your heart's desire?"
she whispered
the boy looked up sadly
"Someone to understand me"
the angel smiled pleased and disappeared
the boy wept at his loss
then a girl appeared
held out her hand to him
he took it
a perfect fit
"My heart's desire,"
she told him,
"is to understand you."
