The happiest day of her life,
Her beauty radiant and elegant
A perfect wedding day,
Wrapped in an incomparable gown.

Something borrowed, something blue –
A delicate indigo pendent.
Maybe she shouldn’t have worn it,
But she can only think of you.

A beautiful, generous man
Waits to say, “I do”
But he’ll never be as funny, as dangerous,
He’ll never be like you.

Her mother says, “Stay strong,”
“You’ll never be happy with him,”
“That man waiting down the aisle,”
“Is more than ready to take your hand.”

She puts on her best face
Her emotions hard as rock
She needs to accept her fate
As her heart begins to drop

Goodbye to those hopeful fantasies
Goodbye to those late night calls
“Do you take this man to be your husband?”
“I do.” After a long pause.
