Going my own way
I no longer want to be judged,
for the color of my skin
shouldn’t make me a thug.
People say because a black man
is in office we have won the battle,
but no we struggle like it just began.
When you see me the first thing
you see shouldn’t be the color of my skin.
But rather the beauty within.
I am not a stereotype,
or a statistic to be seen.
So forget the cliché
I am going my own way.
I plan on soaring so high.
You will miss me with
the blink of an eye.
So forget the cliché
I am going my own way.
Look fast, Look quick.
I am changing the stereotype
for this I was picked.
