In the azure sky lies New York
The city of twilight
The city that never sleeps
A place where dreams are made and dreams are broken
This is New York

No one understands New York
It is too large, too diverse, too different
After generations of living
The city has become a mystery
A mystery none can solve

Many claim to know the city
But none dare claim to understand it
For that, even as the oldest New Yorker knows
Is a fool’s game
The city is too vast, too incomprehensible

In the azure sky lies New York
The city of twilight
The city that never sleeps
A place where dreams are made and dreams are broken
This is New York

New York is an exotic place
Brimming with hopes, both alive and dead
To those who care to dig a little deeper
They will discover a rich community of people
Possessing the same hopes, the same dreams

New York is well on the cycle of perpetual change
As the city improves and assimilates
It warmly offers a hand to all who care to make it their home
But unlike many other cities
New York invents, and reinvents, people

In the azure sky lies New York
The city of twilight
The city that never sleeps
A place where dreams are made and dreams are broken
This is New York

Look!
There is the Empire State Building
The observer at the very pinnacle gazes below
Staring down from this grand citadel
Curious to see what is underneath

As she gazes beneath
It is impossible to miss proud, gleaming New York down below
What a sight! A breathtaking sight!
How the city lights shimmer
With radiant glows pulsing forth

In the azure sky lies New York
The city of twilight
The city that never sleeps
A place where dreams are made and dreams are broken
This is New York

But, by far, the greatest aspect of New York
Is the people
Unified toward their common purposes
And working together to forge a city greater than any other
Their resilience is powerful and unyielding

When you look at them, the New Yorkers
You see a trueness of spirit
A razor-sharp determination
To do what they came to do
Inspiring indeed

In the azure sky lies New York
The city of twilight
The city that never sleeps
A place where dreams are made and dreams are broken
This is Home
