Here We Lie Bound

Here we lie bound
by Darkness
No light has ever touched
These dungeon walls

I can’t see you
but I know
when you’re smiling

Here we lie bound
by Hunger
the meals are
few and apart

I can’t see you
but I know
when you offer me yours

Here we lie bound
by Pain
the chains bite my wrists
and I stumble in the dark

I can’t see you
but I know
you share my pain

Here we lie bound
by Secrets
I know nothing
beyond these walls

I can’t see you
but I know
you whisper truths from outside

Here we lie bound
by Fear
when the nightmares wake me screaming
you are there

I can’t see you
but I know
you’re helping me through

The day they came and took you
The light seared my eyes
Through my tears I saw you
I though
my sight betrayed me
but then I saw your
bright blue eyes
the dungeon couldn’t shadow
then you smiled
and alone

I remain bound

Here I lie bound
by determination
by hope
by love
I can’t see you
but I will find you

This poem has been haunting me for years. I got the inspiration a long, long time ago and just got around to writing it first hour one day.
